    The removed flooring looks old. Hope the subfloor's mastic, if any, and the linoleum was tested for asbestos before they were tackled.

      I honestly purchased it years ago and a place called Lucketts Market in Virginia. I'm not sure if it is still made. I suggest either Dixie Belle brown or Annie Sloan as a good substitute!

      Hi Jess, I didn't have any in stock (they did make it). I honestly did this as a quick stopgap because I plan on installing new countertops this year. So far it has held up well, except around the kitchen sink area. I do think gator hide would have been a better option. Thanks!

    Big suggestion did you check it for lead? There’s usually enough lead in ancient wallpaper to raise your lead index in your body high enough to take medication for it. Oh, but don’t worry I’m sure you guys breathed it all in. You need to be careful with your bodies/lives. Wear your safety equipment because it might suck bad if you don’t.

    Use water to soak the walls!! It will help tremendously just a lightly soaked sponge thats not dripping and let sit for 5-10 minutes with two applications. When it becomes tough again you need more water lol

    Great video thanks, do you know if it's the same for all chalk paint. And also I've heard you can use concrete sealer as a cheaper alternative to lacquer

    • @ThePaintedDrawer
      @ThePaintedDrawer 11 місяців тому

      Thank you! I believe that Dixie Belle chalk mineral paint will also work. It is the lacquer or sealer that is the most important step. The Annie Sloan lacquer is pretty pricey so an alternative would be nice.

    I have never understood why Hispanic people always think that white persons don’t work in construction field. You closed the mouth to all those people. Congratulations.

    • @DogeDavidLoredan
      @DogeDavidLoredan 4 місяці тому

      I’m not sure why race (or culture) had to be brought into the topic. I’ve never heard anyone say that White people don’t work hard or aren’t good/hard-working Construction workers (By Hispanics or anyone else). Anyway, It’s obviously not true, and just like this family video, a lot of other people I’ve watched are also White (I’m assuming not Hispanic, who knows what this family could be). But, Bob Villa, Mike Holmes, And the countless family channels I subscribe to by stumbling across are usually White (or Black? I don’t really think of the race of all the people I watch home repair, construction and other videos on) Bottom line: I agree it’s important not to stereotype or make assumptions about people (No, it’s not OK for other groups to put down White people) but I’ve just never heard the claim you’re making, and I think it’s a shame when race has to be brought into everything including this wholesome video. (for some context I’m not an American, And the only “Hispanic” people I really know are Europeans from Spain. None of them would even say “White people can’t do X” because Europeans Spanish people would lump themselves as “White”, And would probably be pretty insulted by someone saying “White/Europeans can’t do construction”. Just as any one should be.) Sounds like something someone from the US state of Oregon or a democrat trying to push illegal immigration would say since that’s what our understanding of the US is and what leftists are known for. (turning people against each other, trying to convince people that they “need” mass illegal immigration because their people “can’t/won’t do the hard work”. Anyways, the truth speaks for itself, Hispanics/Mexicans, etc. Didn’t build the Colosseum, Ancient Rome, Greece, Britain, Germany and all the countless beauties and modern innovations throughout Europe and even parts of Asia for that matter. Sorry for the rant, but, I just thought give my 2 cents. Wonderful teamwork by the family definitely a hard-working family that isn’t afraid to get their hands dirty. Can’t wait to see the finished product! God bless, and, may we all be proud of who we are, and Preserve and restore Our heritage! (And learn who built the homes and communities we live in and made them the great places our families wanted to live in!)
